Only 9 days left until you get to witness our innovative Pitch Perfect finalists showcase their businesses. After much thought and consideration, we chose our top 10 candidates to participate in this friendly competition, for a chance to win up to $10,000 towards their startup. It was such a hard decision to make due to the caliber of applications received, but we’re so excited for each of the chosen teams!
Over the past 3 weeks, we’ve been working diligently to help our finalists prepare for demo day.
- Week 1 – we held an orientation call where each team officially introduced themselves, asked questions and received a run down of how the weeks would proceed. From there, we held a virtual Pitch Perfect happy hour where we enjoyed icebreakers and got to know a little more about each team member, their business, and their passion.
- Week 2 – we hosted a day long Pitch Perfect Workshop led by Spann & Company’s Amanda Spann, where each team harnessed their pitches and even had the chance to get critical feedback from Venture Capitalist, Nneka Ukpai, who was a surprise guest. After the workshop, Ms.Ukpai commented “It was such a pleasure to witness them implement given feedback and evolve their pitches over the course of the workshop.”
- Week 3 – our teams have several individual consultations with pitch consultant, Amanda Spann and will also be meeting with industry focused mentors whom they were strategically paired with to further their growth and development. They are being prepped and provided with tools as they finalize their pitches for demo day, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store!

November is National Gratitude Month
National Gratitude month encourages us to embrace the power of gratitude. Although gratitude is more than simply saying “thank you” we’d like to use this moment to express our appreciation to all our amazing sponsors, volunteers and partners!

NWF Supports GIRL
This fall, GIRL (Girls Inspired and Ready to Lead) launched a cohort of 21 high school girls, between 10th and12th grade, for their Pathways to Careers Leadership program. This program is intended for students to participate in leadership and professional development workshops, while gaining hands-on work experience through paid internships with GIRL partnered organizations.
Newwave Foudation is a proud partner, and we look forward to working with some of these girls to help get them prepared for life after graduation.
