NWF Presents Wealth Building Wednesdays!

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

Let’s celebrate Financial Literacy Month together

April is National Financial Literacy Month and in its honor, Newwave Foundation presents Wealth Building Wednesdays!

This month is recognized each year to raise public awareness of the importance of financial literacy and money management habits. The idea evolved from ‘Youth Financial Literacy Day’ introduced by the National Endowment for Financial Education. It can also be referred to as ‘National Financial Capability Month’ which was declared by President Barrack Obama in March 2017 as a way to reframe the importance of being financially capable.

Beginning this week, we invite you to join our Linkedin or Instagram Livestream every Wednesday @ 12:30pm EST in the month of April. We’ll be discussing different topics each week, featuring a host of financial industry experts, highlighting various topics surrounding building generational wealth!

Happy Birthday to our Founder & Executive Director,

Sherifah Munis!

This week, we are celebrating another year of life for our Founder & Executive

Director, Sherifah Munis!

As a wife, mom, entrepreneur, life/career coach and amazing leader, Sherifah is constantly sharing her wealth of knowledge. Not only does she believe in the power of pouring into others, but she is an advocate for financial wellness, which is fitting as she shares her special month with National Financial Literacy month!

“Financial Literacy is a subject matter that I am extremely passionate about. I was that teenage girl who signed up for every credit card offer I could get when I first got into College, thinking it was free money. Let’s just say I learned the hard way how it would later impact my

credit and the ability to get a loan. I can fondly reflect on all the financial-related mistakes I’ve made along my life’s journey, because they taught me so much about myself, and equipped me to seek out the knowledge needed to get on the right path.” – Sherifah.

On behalf of the Newwave Foundation family, we wish you a beautiful and fulfilling birthday. Thank you for being such an integral part of the honorable work NWF does and we can’t wait to witness how your next chapter writes itself.

With Love & Gratitude, Newwave Foundation Team

Looking for Scholarships?

As high school students approach the season of college acceptances, there are a number of things to consider. One of which is typically how to pay for school. With this is mind, the demand for scholarships is significant.

A recent study showed that 38% of high school students don’t pursue college because of the fear of cost and accumulating debt. There are so many opportunities for financial support that students and parents don’t know about because of the lack of exposure and resources. So we want to share the wealth the best way we know how!

Calling All Volunteers!

We can use your support to select our 2023 Scholars

We’d like to invite you to join us again, in selecting our 2023 NWF Scholars!

Since 2017, Newwave Foundation has awarded scholarships to deserving high school students through our partner organizations. As a reflection of our mission and vision, we like to seek out scholars who are passionate about learning and pursuing higher education despite the odds

stacked against them. Many scholarship programs typically specify GPA requirements, but we believe in investing in students beyond just their grades. Therefore, our primary criteria is a resilience essay, giving students the opportunity to share a time when they were faced with adversity in their lives and how they persevered.

Over the years, we’ve been touched by some of the most moving stories and it’s important for us to be a reliable resource for young men and women who deserve a shot at their own success. We can really use your help in selecting from the hundreds of applications we received this year. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, click the button below!

Tis the season of new beginnings

As our days get longer, the weather gets warmer and the flowers bloom, we hope you make time to do the things you love. More importantly, we encourage you to consider these 5 tips for a healthy spring:

  1. Move more, sit
  2. Spend time with your loved
  3. Get plenty of rest!
  4. Clean out the old, make room for the new! (clothes, old habits, people, etc.)
  5. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
